Bernhard Aichner

The first art intervention of the Art Display is dedicated to the artist and author Bernhard Aichner and his art of writing. Aichner settled in southern Burgenland two years ago and Neumarkt an der Raab has become his second home. Here he writes his novels and devotes himself to his artistic work. Aichner is internationally successful with his crime novels, which regularly land at the top of the bestseller lists and have been filmed by Netflix, ORF and ZDF.

In addition to his work as an author, Aichner has been studying handwriting for years, as he always writes the first versions of his books on paper with a fountain pen. Calligraphy has thus become part of his creative work. Aichner writes poems on canvas, stone or copper plates. He uses old printing techniques. In the printing workshop of the artists' village Neumarkt an der Raab, he creates photopolymer prints and lithographs.

Art Display

The Art Display is a cooperation of Galerie21 with the municipality of Jennersdorf. The region around Jennersdorf with its very special flair and in all its diversity has been a place of refuge and longing for many artists since the 1960s.

Time for the city to show this also full of pride.
