In connection with the opening of the Koralm Tunnel, the Pavelhaus is organizing an exhibition in which artists from Styria, Carinthia, and Slovenia engage in an artistic dialogue exploring the new connection between the two federal states. The dangers of nationalism and totalitarian systems are addressed using current examples.
In addition, in collaboration with the Graz Initiative for Peace and Neutrality (GIFFUN) and the Nagasaki-Brescia Kaki Tree Project for Europe, a kaki tree will be planted as a symbol of peace. Furthermore, the project “4th Block: Nuclear Scar—Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” from the International Poster Triennial will commemorate the Chernobyl disaster that occurred 40 years ago.

Pavelhaus
The Pavelhaus, in Slovenian Pavlova hiša, is a museum, meeting place and cultural center for the Slovenian ethnic group and is run by the Article VII Cultural Association Styria. Annually, several exhibitions of contemporary art from Slovenia, Austria and the whole world are shown. In addition, there are bilingual book presentations, concerts and discussions in the Pavelhaus. Since 2001 it has been a partner of the international festival Steirischer Herbst.
