Gelitin
Selbstportrait mit Vogel
Gelitin’s *Self-Portrait with a Bird in Midsummer on the Meadow* is a wistful nod to Edward Munch’s painting *Self-Portrait with a Bottle*.
The earthy colors—ranging from yellow through brown to green—and the light blue of the tablecloths in Munch’s painting resemble the colors of the South Styrian landscape and the summer sky with its drifting clouds. The bottle and the bird are slender, brown, good-natured, or dangerous.
The bottle and the bird are free; they can be there, but they don’t have to be.Gelitin’s *Self-Portrait with a Bird in Midsummer on the Meadow* is a wistful nod to Edward Munch’s painting *Self-Portrait with a Bottle*.
